The town of Hörby lies east of the twin lakes of Ringsjön, and the kommun with which it shares its name spreads north and south and east from there: in the southern half, the landscape looks more like the agricultural set-up of the southern regions, while the northern half trend more toward the shady, quiet woodland of the Heartlands proper. As such, if you’re looking to explore the secret(ive) villages of middle Skåne, Hörby is one of your choices as a base of operations—one that leaves you reassuringly close to the asceticism and progressive values of the Slow Coast.
Hörby town is fairly cute in its own right, but no one would accuse it of being a party town or place of great learning. But if you like good cake in quiet cafes, or sitting on a bench and feeding ducks near a very small castle—it’s really more of a stately home with a little tower, but don’t let the locals hear you say so—you might find it’s just the place for you.
