Örkelljunga

Quietness and closeness to nature are the defining characteristics of the area—even by the already mellow baseline of the Skånian Northwest.

Örkelljunga kommun is majority forest, and lies along Skåne’s northern edge, abutting both Kronoberg and Halland counties. Slightly more than half of the population lives in Örkelljunga itself, with the rest to be found in the handful of smaller towns, or out among the shady silence of the woods.

Indeed, quietness and closeness to nature are the defining characteristics of the area—even by the already mellow baseline of the Skånian Northwest—which is why it is probably best know to outsiders as the site of numerous ecovillages, most notably Örkeltopia.
