Like all counties (or län) in Sweden, Skåne is divided into municipalities (kommuner) for official administrative purposes. But those administrative arrangements aren’t always very helpful for a newcomer—heck, sometimes they’re not hugely helpful for a native—and we wanted to present Skåne in a way that demonstrated its diversity while also showing that there are some similarities of character and vibe that persist over certain areas.
In doing so, we risk being accused of reductivism, especially by anyone who knows the area well—so, for the avoidance of any doubt, our five regions should not be assumed to be homogeneous lumps of landscape without any difference or diversity! Indeed, we’re pretty sure that the material we’ve collected in these regional “buckets” will put the lie to any such assumption.
So please feel free to click on the map above and get exploring, or refer to the list of regions below if you refer to navigate by text.
