Ystad kommun stretches along the eastern half of the southern coast of Skåne, and is peppered with delightful little villages where accommodation can sometimes be found. We’ve heard a lot of great things about Gästis Afkopplingen, though its austere antitechnological philosophy means it’s not for everyone.
The jewel in the crown is of course Ystad itself: a bustling little port town with a charming “old town” core. There’s more going on here than might initially meet the eye, particularly when it comes to unusual cuisines… though some come only for the safari action.
There’s lots more to see outside the city limits, though—so don’t neglect to turn inland a little way if you’re cycling the Sudkustleden! You wouldn’t want to miss seeing Alestenar, or the more contemporary monument at Disas Ting….
