Eslöv kommun lies to the northeast of Lund, with its southeasterly tip reaching as far as the lake that gives its name to the Vombsjösänken biosphere area (better known as Storkriket), and its more northerly reaches spreading as far as the shores of Ringsjön‘s western half. The area is historically associated with agricultural and textile industries, particularly food production, and in recent years the latter have once again taken center stage.
Eslöv itself has changed a great deal over the last few decades, with a significant demographic swing resulting from its becoming a dormitory town for people employed in Lund; its position as the first station on the railway line toward Hässleholm proved highly appealing for commuters who decided to give up driving. It’s also a good alternative base for exploring Lund’s eastern villages and nature reserves, if Lund itself feels a bit too intense for you.
