Just seven kilometers north of Simrishamn—you can get here in under an hour by bike, and that’s not even pushing it!—Vik is what a Brit might call a picture-postcard fishing village. According to one of the Rough Planet team, “if you don’t fall instantly in love with Vik on a warm summer’s day, then you are dead inside and I don’t know how to help you”. (The Vik tourism föräning has, to date, declined to use this glowing endorsement on their own publicity materials.)
Wander the little back-alleys, sit and stare at the little harbour in hope of seeing young seals at play, or wander along the shore to take a dip in the stone formation known as the Priest’s Bathtub… if this all sounds a bit low-octane for you, well, they don’t call this the Slow Coast for nothing!
